Sausage on a bun, served with a smile
As the youngest entrepreneur that WLI has helped get started in business, Guh Taum Gwot King exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit that WLI was created to encourage and assist.

Guh Taum Gwot’s enterprising venture illustrates the circle of mutual support through which we can strengthen and grow our island economy.

By offering community members a product that we enjoy, pop and sausage on a bun, Guh Taum Gwot is earning the money he needs for sports, school and recreational activities that he enjoys.

It’s a win-win deal for every-body: happy customers get a tasty sausage; Guh Taum Gwot gets spending money; WLI get's it's investment back as the business grows, providing the funds to invest in more entrepreneurs; the community gets new services; community members prosper; and the cycle continues, as we build a selfsustaining economy that will support our families and the families of our children.

WLI President Les Tabobondung buys a
sausage on a bun from Guh Taum Gwot King.
This is what Guh Taum Gwot had to say about his experience, in his own words.

"Chi mee gwetch to WLI for supporting my very small venture and giving me three summers to pay back my barbeque and cooler.

The idea of selling sausage on a bun and pop was wanting to be like my big brothers J.P. and Zhanodin, who sold sausages at the cemetery and made pretty good money.

I asked my Mom and Dad for support and they told me to talk to Auntie Doe, who helped me to put a letter together and a budget to ask WLI for the start-up funds. I was kinda scared at first, but when I got my stuff, I was really happy and I hope everybody buys sausage and pop when they see me at the cemetery. It’s kind of late, but I got started. I want to help my parents buy my hockey stuff and school stuff and go to the show."

Chi miigwetch to Guh Taum Gwot King for contributing to our community. Good luck with your business venture, and keep those delicious sausages coming with a smile!
